Ernestine Burnett – yoga teacher
Ernestine took her first yoga class out of curiosity over 25 years ago. She was hooked immediately, as she felt inspired by the holistic approach to the ‘workout’. “I not only loved what yoga did to my body, but to my mind as well. Yoga also taught me how to use my breath more effectively in order to relax and change my moods.”
Even an old injury due to a serious ski accident was no obstacle for her to do yoga. In fact, yoga helped to keep the pain away and keep her mobile.
This, and the newly found freedom of children leaving the nest, motivated her to start her teacher training in 2010. She qualified as an advanced yoga teacher from the Victorian Institute of Yoga Education and Teachers Training in Hampton. http://www.viyett.com.au in 2011. As a teacher she aims to emanate those teachers who inspired her. The teachers who make their students feel special, are considerate of their needs and have a creative and informative approach to all the fascinating aspects of yoga. There is so much more to yoga than just the poses. Even as a teacher she feels she remains a student. Continuous expansion of her yoga smorgasbord, she feels is a necessity to stay fresh and motivated not only for herself, but also for her students. ‘It’s wonderful to know what our bodies and minds are capable of. It never ceases to amaze me’, she says.
Ernestine would like to offer her students the opportunity to feel supported in their journey to being healthy and relaxed, no matter what shape or age they are.
Currently Ernestine runs classes in Brighton and Hawthorn. With maximum of 12 students per class.
